Venice, Italy

Ok I must first defend Venice before going forward with this post.

Imagine the setting:
-Two tired people-one had taken Dramamine because she gets motion sickness:/ and she could not stay awake
-Two massive cruise ships dumping all their 3,000 passengers off in a town that barely has 2,000 people total that lived in the whole town
-Packed streets shoulder to shoulder
-confusing taxi boats that everyone had to use because the city has water as streets
-Oh and believe it or not the POPE followed us to Venice after cramping our style in Roma- he's everywhere, he's everywhere!!!:). I tell ya Italy loves their Pope!

Ok so I'll stop there you get the drift, we didn't have much fun in Venice:(
It wasn't horrible but it was kinda like, "well we've been to Venice now...move along."
Besides getting lost (on purpose because Rick Steves said so:) and getting some good pics we didn't do much.
Good pizza on some side street
Keep running into streets that dead end into back alley canals and we don't have a boat to cross:/
Need to find a boat
Hey there's one no ones using...They won't mind;)

Taxi boat...Greg woke me up for this picture!
Note to self: don't ever take dramamine when you know you will be on your feet for the whole next day:/ the option was throwing up on the guy with too long of legs across from me on the train:)

Talk about a workout...wow!

Oh geez all the cathedrals are running together in my head:/ -this one is St. Mark's Basilica where the Pope was visiting the next day! This was a very pretty basilica with elaborate mosaics throughout...

This is a shot of the steeples on St Mark's taken from the Doge's palace courtyard. (the Doge was the ruler of Venice in it's prime). The steeples are very different from others throughout Europe. They seem to reflect a Turkish style that is evident in other architecture throughout the city. Venice was the richest city in the world in it's day because of its location as a trade route.

Greg likes taking pictures of me...ha!

View from main bridge in town..the Rialto Bridge.

Greg on another bridge...lots of bridges!

A cool picture of something...not sure:/

This last picture sums up Venice in our opinion...formerly glorious but overgrown and falling apart...
